Prayer

Prayer and meditation are central to the mysticism of the Christian Faith.

The Sinners Prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. Amen,” and the Rosary are truly meditations.

The Rosary is a meditation on the life of Christ. We pray the Rosary, not in hope that God will hear our repetitions, but in hope that we will learn to become more like our Lord Jesus Christ as we meditate over and over on the events of his life. Meditating the Rosary or Sinners Prayer does not keep us from praying and talking freely to our Lord. And we know our prayers are heard.

(The OMR accepts and endorses the 20 Mysteries used by the Roman Catholic Church, and we encourage membership in The Rosary Confraternity.)

Please pray for the unity of the Church and please include His Holiness Pope Francis, His Eminence John Parnell and His Excellency Daniel Clay in your prayers and meditations. Please also pray for your local bishops and clergy.

+ Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Closing Prayer

Oh, loving God, I ask your blessing this day on the one holy catholic and apostolic Church, its members, and those affiliated therewith. Help us to be people of prayer and peace. Though scattered far and wide help us to be together in the spirit of your love. Give us hearts wide enough to embrace each other as well as those whose lives we touch. Enable us to listen and learn from each other, and those around us each day. May we be models in our homes, neighborhoods, and communities of wise stewardship, dignified human labor, sacred leisure, and reverence for all living things. And above all else, oh loving God, may our presence among others be a constant witness of justice, compassion, and hope for all. Amen.
